There are many ways missing teeth affect the way you live. It can lessen your self-confidence & lead to further dental problems. Let us bring a smile to your face with the latest in dental implant technology.
A dental implant is an artificial root made of titanium that is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. The implant acts as an anchor for a replacement tooth that is attached to the implant to function & look like a natural tooth.
Implants may also be used to anchor dentures, especially lower dentures that tend to shift when you talk or chew. For those patients needing implant supported dentures, we work with our in-house denturist to ensure a comfortable, great-looking result.
For patients with removable partial dentures, implants can replace missing teeth so that you have a more natural-looking smile.
Doctor Whitfield takes a very comprehensive approach to implant dentistry. The majority of all implant techniques are used to help our patients, including the following implant techniques .
Single teeth, or multiple teeth can be replaced with dental implants. Sometimes implants can be used not just for a single tooth, but for implant supported bridges.
Sometimes a tooth is in a cosmetic area of the smile, and needs to be replaced in just one day. No one will ever know the tooth has been replaced.
The technique goes by many names, including All-on-4, dental hybrids, teeth in a day or snap in teeth. Restoring a compromised mouth all in one implant supported solution has allowed patients to repair years of dental problems.
Many times the dental solution requires rebuilding lost bone structure. Multiple techniques can be employed including atraumatic extraction of teeth and modern biotechnology, bone morphogenic proteins. Doctor Whitfield has experience in multiple techniques and can guide the patient in making good choices. Reliable outcomes is paramount, and that comes from clinical experience.
These techniques and technologies in the experienced hands of Doctor Whitfield helps create successful implant dental solutions for our patients.
This is an area that our practice proudly excels. With 14 years of experience placing dental implants, we have learned how to properly maintain implants.
We have developed & employ many exclusive implant maintenance techniques that have proven to keep our patient's implants in top shape.
High quality dental hygienist cleanings are the corner stone. We are blessed with extremely talented hygienists employing the newest techniques: Emdogain technology to repair bone loss around teeth and implants, Air polishing to remove plaque and biofilm off teeth and implants, and Perioprotect trays that deliver gentle peroxide to the gingiva for maintenance between cleanings.
Without all your teeth, chewing and eating can destabilize your bite and cause you discomfort. The remaining teeth drift out of alignment and can cause periodontal problems such as gum disease.
With fewer teeth to distribute the chewing load, you accelerate the wear and breakdown of your remaining teeth.
Additionally, when teeth are missing, your facial structures such as your jaw can shift and cause your face to look older.
Implants can solve many of these problems.
We use dental implants made of a titanium alloy. Titanium was discovered in the 1960s to promote bone growth.
A titanium implant promotes osteointegration & bone growth around the implant. This strengthens your mouth's bone structure & prevents movement of other teeth due to a missing tooth.
Once the implant is fully integrated, it will typically last for the rest of your life.
Implant Body - Screw
The implant body replaces the tooth root, supporting the new crown & strengthening the bone structure.
Post - Abutment
The post or abutment is attached to the implant body & is what the crown attaches to.
The crown is the part you see, replacing the chewing surface of a tooth.
